Wedding Chapels and Churches

There are several fine wedding chapels and churches that are ideal for your wedding. Chapel sites offer the feel of a church for those who need a larger setting for their wedding or who wish to have a more religious touch added.

  

Chapel of the Cherished Memories (Kahana)

 

 

The Ka Hali 'a Aloha Chapel, also known as the Chapel of the Cherished Memories is a private wedding chapel located in West Maui on the mountain side of the road. It is a small chapel that can comfortably seat 30 or 40.

 

 

The grounds are nicely manicured and it has the advantage of being dedicated just to weddings. That means the interior is kept clean and fresh. There is a room for brides to dress in and a turn-around area for your limo driver. The chapel is located on a parcel zoned for two acres so neighbors are not much of an issue. 

 

Kaanapali Congregational Church

 

 

Despite the name, this quaint small church is not in Kaanapali but Honokokai.  Parking is limited to the street and a public parking lot across the street at the Honokokai Beach Park (which is usually pretty full). The church makes a nice site for your small party, or just the two of you. The site fee is one of the lowest.

 

Kumulani Chapel (Kapalua)

 

 

This chapel is located on the property of the Ritz Carlton Resort in Kapalua. It is on the edge of the golf course and a short distance from the cliffs overlooking the ocean. There is an outside gazebo that can be used for picture taking. The resort does not want the wedding party traveling down to the ocean cliffs (because of the possibility of getting hit by a golf ball), so beach pictures must be taken at another location.

 

South Maui

On the south side of the island, there are a couple of good choices for Maui wedding chapels and churches.

 

The Grand Wailea Wedding Chapel (Wailea)

 

The Grand Wailea Wedding Chapel is the best wedding chapel on the island. The chapel was built in the early missionary style, with impressive stained glass windows. The interior features handcrafted woods and Italian crystal chandeliers. If you prefer a church/chapel atmosphere, you won't find a more attractive location on the island.
 

The grounds of the Grand Wailea provide many excellent picture taking opportunities as their are waterfalls, bridge walkways, small gardens, pools and fountains, as well as the beach below the resort which is reasonably nice (but often crowded). If you have your wedding in one of the gazebos on the property, it is the same price as the chapel on the left. For more photos of the grounds, look at the Resorts page.

 

Keolahou Church (Kihei)

 

 

This small Christian church is located on South Kihei Road (in the North end of Kihei) right across the road from the beach. This is a good location for a morning wedding as the beach tends to be more windy in the afternoon (for your beach shots). It is reasonably priced and offers a South Maui location for your small wedding party.

Keawalai Congregational Church (Makena)

The historic Keawalai Congregational Church is located on the ocean in beautiful Makena.  The church is used each Sunday for worship services with a flair for keeping the Hawaiian Culture alive.  When you rent this church you get the minister as well for one price.  There is an ancient graveyard on the grounds as well.  Your pictures will take place on this lawn in the back.  This wedding site offers a bit of the traditional yet still has great ambiance for your pictures.
